Workplace Mediation

Delivery of independent mediation processes in the workplace.

Our team of accredited mediators specialise in workplace conflict mediation, through a facilitative, interest-based mediation approach.

The combined expertise of +50 years managing people personalities and behaviours in workplaces, give an advantage to have any conflict settled for a long-term goal of improved relationships.

As external independent mediators - there is a distinct advantage through our services: it all sits outside perceived limitations / bias towards in-house HR, any imposed or arbitrary resolutions.

This is a powerful facilitative process where the mediation is focused on each party expressing:

  • their view of the situation,

  • their experience so far and

  • what they hope the relationship to become or achieve in the process.

It takes voluntary and genuine understanding of interests at stake.

Each party makes their own decisions. They arrive to agree on how they can continue working together with a better alternative for themselves that also considers each other’s interests.

Frequently asked questions

How does it work?

We have an initial conversation where we gather the existing baseline data from your end and in what is behind the need to call a mediation with the parties.

We offer a complimentary review of the referral documents, contact with the referrer or business engaging the service (30 minutes).
Nest step involves 2 x pre-mediations (90 minutes each with each party individually) and the mediation session (approximately 4 hours).
Upholding the principle of confidentiality, nothing discussed in any pre-mediation or mediation session will be reported back to the business.
Here is how the typical steps unfold in practice:
  1. Getting the referral: introduce us to the case of what you wish to have resolved.

  2. Parties are contacted: we introduce ourselves to the parties and invite them to the process. We share the process guidelines with both parties and highlight the voluntary aspect, confidentiality and courtesy needed. We obtain a mediation agreement from each party.

  3. Pre-mediation sessions: Usually any such session goes for about 90 minutes with each party, and can be timed on different or same day with the mediation, subject to their predisposition and availability.

  4. Mediation session: we facilitate the confidential, voluntary, interest-based mediation, and this can take about 4 hours.

This is where both parties say what they have to say, ask what they have to ask, and make decisions so they jointly arrive to a resolution that satisfies what is most important for them or a better alternative to a negotiated agreement.

  5. Agreement: each mediation brings about an agreement between parties for them to have and be guided by in the future or when similar situations come about in the workplace.

These steps reduce the risk of misunderstandings and ensure the mediation process is robust, with parties' agreement to participate and find solutions to their situation..

How much does it cost?
Costs for the above delivery model is $5,000 plus travel if we are attending on-site, otherwise we can host in our offices for no travel charge.
A very brief procedural report can be provided to the referrer, however this requires agreement from both parties at end of mediation.

Good to keep in mind that Investing in HR consulting for your business is an operational expenditure, and it is a cost that is tax deductible for you.
